Hakone Open-Air Museum

Situated in the most beautiful environment, this open-air art museum is an inspiring place for designers, artists and even families. The Hakone Open-Air Art Museum in Hakone, Japan reminded me of how art and design influence our daily lives. Even when we aren’t thinking about it, we are encountered with design that affects us, the design of a car, railway system, clothes, a door and much more. This museum puts that into perspective for us, as it combines art and nature.

Displays include those of many famous artists including Picasso as well as others that make art fun for us. The “Woods of Net” was the most memorable art display with the multicolored jungle gym of ropes. It was a nice break in the shade from the hot humid steaming July weather in Japan. But, after climbing Mount Fuji just two days before, the unique art museum and the relaxing scenic view of Hakone was a breath of fresh air from the intense mountain climb and the bustling city of Tokyo. Dankt jeder Weise.
